5 Serial Horor Yang Tak Pernah Berakhir

Orang menyebutnya B Movie lantaran film-film dari genre horor memang sering kali tak memenuhi standar kualitas yang digunakan para kritikus film Hollywood.
Nyatanya, itu tak berdampak pada jumlah konsumen genre yang satu ini. Buktinya dari tahun ke tahun Hollywood masih membuat film-film seram baik yang bersifat lepas maupun yang jadi bagian dari serial yang sudah ada sebelumnya.
Kalau kebanyakan film berhenti di bagian ketiga atau keempat, film horor bisa berlanjut sampai bagian ke-10 dan sepertinya ini juga bukan akhir dari serial ini.
Dari beberapa serial horor yang masih 'hidup', ada beberapa yang memang sepertinya tak akan pernah berakhir. Film di bawah ini contohnya.

Jakarta - Ilmuwan di Stanford University, California, Amerika Serikat (AS), coba menciptakan baterai lithium-ion berbentuk lembaran tipis yang sangat fleksibel dan transparan. Dia berharap, penemuannya bisa dipakai untuk membuat iPhone transparan.

Yi Cui dan timnya, terilhami membuat baterai tembus pandang karena mendambakan gadget Apple transparan suatu saat menjadi kenyataan.

"Saya ingin berbicara kepada Steve Jobs tentang ini. Saya ingin iPhone transparan!," kata Cui yang merupakan ahli baterai sekaligus profesor materi ilmiah di Stanford University.

Cui membuat baterai tersebut bersama dengan salah satu mahasiswanya Yuan Yang, yang merupakan penulis pertama makalah tentang baterai lithium-ion transparan.

"Jika sesuatu tampak lebih kecil dari 50 micron, mata Anda akan seperti melihat benda itu tampak transparan," kata Yang seperti dikutip dari LA Times, Sabtu (30/7/2011).

Dijelaskannya, itu daya kekuatan maksimal penglihatan mata manusia berada pada rentang 50 hingga 100 micron. Yang dan Cui membuat semacam kerangka untuk baterai elektroda, yang setiap line-nya berukuran lebar 35 micron.

Karena masih dalam pengembangan, baterai ini masih terus ditingkatkan kemampuannya. Untuk saat ini, baterai ini belum cukup memberikan daya untuk laptop, namun sudah bisa dipakai untuk kamera. Dan Ciu optimistis, baterai yang dikembangkannya tak lama lagi bisa memiliki daya yang lebih kuat.

Google Cuma Butuh 30 Menit Buka Kantor di Indonesia

JAKARTA - Siapa bilang perusahaan asing sulit membuka kantor cabang di Indonesia, Google hanya membutuhkan waktu 30 menit untuk menyelesaikan segala administrasi yang dibutuhkan guna melakukan ekpansi ke Indonesia.

Duta Besar RI untuk Amerika Serikat (AS) Dino Patti Jalal mengatakan perusahaan asal Amerika Serikat tersebut hanya membutuhkan waktu setengah jam untuk menyelesaikan berkas-berkas yang diperlukan guna membangun kantornya di Indonesia. "Jadi tidak ada lagi (regulasi) yang berlama-lama itu," jelasnya di Jakarta.

Terpisah, Deputi Menko Bidang Perindustri Edy Putra Irawadi di kantornya mengatakan keinginan Google untuk membangun kantor akan dimulai secara bertahap. Untuk awalnya, kata dia, Google akan mempersiapkan jaringannya terlebih dahulu. " Setelah itu baru yang lainnya menyusul," tuturnya.

Hal senada juga terucap oleh Dirjen Alat Transportasi dan Telematika Kementerian Perindustrian Budi Darmadi kala dihubungi okezone di Jakarta. Budi menambahkan, biasanya, perusahaan sekaliber Google juga akan menitikberatkan pada pembangunan internalnya.

"Untuk search engine semacam google, biasanya dimulai dari jaringan dan sumber daya manusianya dulu. Setelah itu baru tahapan lainnya," terang Budi.

Asal tahu saja, santer diberitakan perusahaan raksasa tersebut telah membuka kantor di Indonesia. Dengan adanya kantor Google di Indonesia, diharapkan tercipta platform yang berfungsi menghubungkan usaha kecil menengah di Indonesia dengan pembeli dari luar negeri.

IBM megungkapkan telah membangun otak artifisial (buatan) terbesar sepanjang sejarah. Sebuah program bernama Modha dengan milyaran neuron virtual. Program yang begitu besar dan untuk menjalankannya dibutuhkan salah satu superkomputer tercepat di dunia, Dawn, sebuah Blue Gene / P superkomputer di Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) di California.

Dawn berukuran satu acre yang terletak di lantai dua lab Simulasi Terascale Facility. Dia menggunakan memori sebesar 147.456 gigabyte dan 147.000 prosesor yang ditempatkan pada 10 rak komputer dan dihubungkan oleh ber mil-mil kabel. Dawn memerlukan satu juta watt listrik melalui kabel daya setebal pergelangan tangan, serta menggunakan 6.675 ton pendigin udara.

Dawn telah terinstal pada awal tahun ini oleh Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), yang melakukan simulasi komputer terbesar untuk memastikan kesiapan senjata nuklir. Untuk semua spesifikasinya yang spektakuler, Dawn hanya mampu menjalankan Modha dengan 1,6 miliar neuron virtual hanya pada kecepatan 1/600 kecepatan otak kucing yang sebenarnya.

Benarkah Facebook Bakal Ditutup?

Palo Alto - Kabar mengejutkan datang dari Facebook. Jejaring sosial terbesar di muka bumi ini diberitakan bakal segera ditutup dalam waktu dua bulan lagi oleh sang pemiliknya, Mark Zuckerberg.

Seperti dikutip dari weeklyworldnews.com, Minggu (9/1/2011), riwayat Facebook yang memiliki 500 juta pengguna di seluruh dunia ini akan segera berakhir pada 15 Maret 2011 mendatang.

"Facebook sudah benar-benar kebablasan, saya harus mengakhiri semua kegilaan ini. Segala tekanan saat mengelola perusahaan ini telah menghancurkan hidupku," demikian pernyataan Zuckerberg seperti diklaim weeklyworldnews.com.

Pernyataan Zuckerberg konon diperkuat oleh Avrat Humarthi, vice president Technical Affairs Facebook. "Setelah 15 Maret, semuanya akan kami tutup. Jika Anda ingin melihat kembali foto-foto Anda, kami sarankan segera unduh dari internet. Anda tak akan bisa lagi mengambilnya begitu Facebook kami tutup," begitu katanya.

Masih menurut klaim situs tersebut, Zuckerberg menilai keputusannya menutup Facebook sangatlah berat. Namun ia merasa itu jalan yang terbaik bagi semua orang.

"Sejujurnya, ini cara yang terbaik. Tanpa Facebook, orang-orang akan pergi ke luar dan menjalin pertemanan yang sesungguhnya. Itu selalu menjadi hal yang baik," katanya.

Zainuddin MZ Diminta Segera Laporkan Aida Saskia

"Saya meminta Bapak Zainuddin untuk segera melapor ke Mabes Polri, karena ini jatuhnya sudah fitnah, bisa dikenakan pasal 310 KUHP soal pencemaran nama baik," tegas Ketua Bidang Dakwah PPP, Mustafa M Bong, di Jakarta, Sabtu (16/10/2010).

Mustafa menegaskan pula, tudingan Aida sepenuhnya telah menyakiti umat Islam. "Zainuddin ini pemimpin, punya umat, dan tudingannya sangat menyakiti, bikin gerah," ujarnya.

Zainuddin memang hingga kini belum memberi keterangan resmi berkait dengan tudingan tersebut. Namun, menurut Mustafa, langkah terbaik bagi Zainuddin adalah segera membuat laporan pengaduan. "Sekali lagi, ini harus dilaporkan, entah ini ada motif dendam kesumat atau ditunggangi atau ada unsur lain, jangan sesumbar dulu," kata Mustafa.

Hacker Terseksi di Dunia Terancam Bui 40 Tahun

London - Nama Kristina Svechinskaya mendadak tenar. Siapa sangka gadis cantik bermata biru itu memiliki kepandaian membobol komputer dan mampu menipu sejumlah bank di Inggris dan Amerika Serikat.

Kerap tampil dengan pakaian yang agak 'berani', gadis berusia 21 tahun itu memiliki julukan "hacker paling seksi di dunia". Di pengadilan, Svechinskaya yang hadir dengan balutan celana jins ketat dan sepatu bot kulit menangis sejadi-jadinya.

Pasalnya, dengan menggunakan software Zeus Trojan, mahasiswa Rusia ini dituduh sebagai jaringan pembobol ribuan rekening bank, mencuri uang sebesar US$ 220 juta, dan menggunakan paspor palsu.

Svechinskaya adalah salah satu dari empat mahasiswa di Universitas New York yang diduga menjadi pembajak rekening sejumlah bank. Jaksa menyatakan gadis itu telah membobol lebih dari lima rekening bank dan menggunakan US$ 35 ribu dari hasil curiannya. Jika terbukti bersalah, gadis cantik ini bisa mendekam di bui selama 40 tahun.

Komplotan hacker Eropa Timur setiap bulannya bisa mencuri uang 2 juta pound sterling atau sekitar Rp26 miliar. Mereka mencuri log-in para pemilik rekening bank dengan menggunakan virus 'Trojan horse'.

Kristina berkuliah di New York, dia direkrut oleh komplotan Eropa Timur melalui iklan di koran dan situs jejaring sosial.

Menurut Jaksa di Manhattan, AS, Preet Bharara saat ini perampokan bank tidak lagi menggunakan senjata atau topeng. Tapi cukup dengan otak encer, internet. Bahkan hanya perlu mengklik mouse dan secepat kejapan mata.

PT First Media Tbk, meluncurkan layanan Sitra Wimax, koneksi jaringan internet nirkabel berkecepatan tinggi berbasis teknologi Wimax.
"Sitra Wimax siap menjadi pelopor layanan internet nirkabel super cepat dengan kualitas terbaik," kata Direktur First Media, Hengkie Liwanto, di sela softlaunch "Sitra Wimax Operator 4G Pertama di Indonesia", di kawasan Lippo Karawaci, Tangerang, Senin.

Teknologi Wimax (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) adalah suatu layanan broadband internet nirkabel generasi ke empat (4G).

Wimax sendiri adalah teknologi berbasis data yang bekerja pada spektrum pita frekuensi 2.3 GHz layaknya Wi-Fi namun dengan jangkauan lebih luas dan kemampuan transmisi lebih cepat yakni mencapai 75 Mbps.

Sitra sendiri memenangkan tender Wimax untuk zona Sumatera Bagian Utara (Sumbagut) dan empat zona yang mencakup Jabodetabek dan propinsi Banten.

"Penggelaran jaringan Sitra Wimax akan dilakukan secara bertahap di kawasan barat Jakarta dan sekitarnya," kata Hengki.

Sementara itu Dirjen Pos dan Telekomunikasi Depkominfo, Budi Setiawan mengatakan, menyambut baik peluncuran Sitra Wimax.

"Kami berharap Sitra Wimax menjadi perangsang terselenggaranya layanan internet berkualitas dengan kecepatan tinggi di Indonesia," kata Budi.

Ia juga meminta Sitra mempercepat pembangunan jaringan di wilayah Sumbagut, untuk lebih mempercepat pemerataan jaringan internet di wilayah itu.

"Sitra sudah lolos uji laik operasi (ULO) untuk wilayah Jabodetabek, tinggal ULO untuk wilayah Sumbagut," kata Budi.

Terkait dengan semangat pemenuhan Tingkat Komponen Dalam Negeri (TKDN), ia menuturkan, pemerintah akan betul-betul melakukan klarifikasi sejalan dengan program memajukan industri dalam negeri.

Untuk merealisasikan TKDN tersebut, Sitra menggandeng PT Teknologi Riset Global (TRG) sebagai penyedia perangkat Wimax berupa customer premise equipment (CPE) dan base station. Pada tahap awal Sitra akan menggunakan TRG sebagai pemasok perangkat untuk wilayah Jabodetabek.

Sementara itu, Direktur TRG Gatot Tetuko mengatakan, jika mengacu pada CPE yang diproduksi maka TKDN sudah mencapai di atas 30 persen, sedangkan TKDN BTS di atas 40 persen.

"Kapasitas produksi CPE TRG bisa mencapai 5.000 unit per bulan, dan BTS mencapai 200 unit per bulan," katanya.

Ia menjelaskan, saat ini TRG memiliki tiga unit line produksi CPE dan BTS yang bisa ditingkatkan sesuai dengan permintaan pasar.

Menurut Kumaran Singaram, Sitra menargetkan dapat meraih pelanggan Wimax sebanyak 100.000-150.000 pelanggan pada tahun pertama atau Juni 2011.

"Sebanyak 500.000 pelanggan pada tahun ke tiga, serta sebanyak 1 juta pelanggan hingga April 2015," kata Kumaran.

Mesin itu berwarna hijau dan berornamen. Ada 2 bak di mesin itu, bak untuk cuci tangan di bagian atas dan bak untuk cuci kaki di bawah. Di tiap bak ada keran yang dilengkapi sensor. Air hanya akan keluar jika kaki atau tangan berada di bawah kran itu.

"Menghemat air adalah motivasi orang-orang untuk mengadopsi cara ini daripada cara konvensional, di mana banyak air yang terbuang," ujar Kepala AACE Anthony Gomez.

Alat itu juga bisa mengeluarkan suara ayat-ayat Alquran yang sudah direkam. Mesin wudhu itu memiliki tinggi 1,65 meter, dan membutuhkan 1,3 liter air untuk sekali wudhu dibandingkan dengan wudhu konvensional yang biasanya membiarkan kran air terbuka selama beberapa menit.

"Saat musim haji, 2 juta orang menggunakan 50 juta liter air per hari untuk wudhu. Kalau mereka memakai mesin ini, mereka akan berhemat 40 juta liter air per hari," imbuh Gomez.

Astro Boy Movie 2009

Underneath the computer-generated exterior of Astro Boy there’s heart and humor that kids will enjoy and parents will appreciate.

Based on the classic Japanese manga of the 60’s, Summit Entertainment has revived the science fiction series for an origin story and a new adventure. Fair warning, however, diehard fans of the originals may be disappointed in the sugary sweet re-imagining.

In the floating haven of Metro City, scientists have discovered two infinite, renewable sources of positive and negative energy capable of restoring life to an abandoned Earth. It’s not long before the megalomaniac leader (voiced by Donald Sutherland) orders the negative core into a “Peacekeeper” robot that wreaks havoc on the lab and vaporizes Toby, the bright son of Dr. Tenma (a more restrained Nicolas Cage).

Tenma builds a robot in his son’s image and fills it with Toby’s memories, creating a powerful version of the boy with the use of the positive energy core. Soon the plucky robo-boy (Freddie Highmore) is zipping through the towering skyscrapers on his rocket feet. Pursued by the military, Astro Boy escapes to the Earth below where he encounters orphans his age like Cora (Kristen Bell), a cruel mechanic named Hamegg (Nathan Lane), and a trio of silly bots from the Robot Revolutionary Front.

The colorful characters are formed as candy-coated shells of smooth textures and imbued with playful personalities. It’s a visual treat sprinkled with bits and bolts of light-hearted humor, but not exactly a pure example of innovation in storytelling.

Astro BoyThe living boy to functional creation is a modern, reverse Pinocchio tale that borrows the ambiguities of reality (see also: Spielberg’s A.I.) and the struggles of a live-giving father. The sidekick machines are the same bumbling, goofy comic relief of most animated movies, especially the misfit scraps of the little-seen Robots. Plus a floating world of lazy humans and servant robots escaping the discarded surface of Earth closely resembles the premise of the superior Wall-E.

The environmental message and references to using science as a weapon are pieces of a political agenda that, coupled with references to Isaac Asimov’s strict set of robot rules, provide a second layer for the older crowd. But the childish gags and familiar material don’t always operate well together.

There isn’t much here for adults without children, but Astro Boy is a harmless jolt of family fun that radiates positive energy for boys and girls.
